Finding Peace in the Routine: A Day of Laughter and Tasks

A Day of Laughter and Tasks

August 15th was a surprisingly peaceful day. I spent time talking with my coworkers about my diagnosis, and we shared laughs, which felt like a breath of fresh air. There’s something about humor that has a way of lightening even the heaviest of days.

I also spent time with my bestie, working on something as mundane as preparing old documents for shredding. It might sound strange, but I found a certain satisfaction in the robotic, assembly-line-like task of adding paper to the bin. For a little while, my mind wasn’t occupied with my problems or anyone else’s. It was just me, her, the paper, and the shredder bin. And that was enough.

Later in the day, I received a call with four additional appointments scheduled. It seems like everything is moving quickly now, and I’m ready to take whatever appointments they give me. It’s clear that they’re working diligently to make sure I get the care I need, and for that, I’m grateful.

Genetic Testing and the Path Ahead

It’s August 21, 2024, and things seem to be progressing along. My calendar is filling up with appointments, and there have been quite a few changes as they work to move some of them up. Today, I had a virtual appointment for genetic testing. Normally, I could easily name all my relatives, but something about today made it hard for me to even remember my grandmother’s name. I suppose that’s just how overwhelming this process can be.

Next up, I’ll be submitting blood work to complete the genetic testing. I’ve got a busy day tomorrow with three appointments lined up, and next Monday, I have an appointment with the surgeon. I’ve heard from two people today that she’s the best of the best, which gives me some comfort knowing I’m in good hands.
